Overview
Tara Geer makes, teaches and researches drawing. Drawing is her primary medium, and her abiding passion. Her artwork is in many collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Morgan Museum & Library. She’s had solo shows in LA and in NY, and exhibited at Planthouse, Jason McCoy, Tibor de Nagy, the Glenn Horowitz Gallery, & the National Arts Club among others. She has been teaching art and Visual Thinking Strategies for over 3 decades –to children with visual processing challenges, doctors at Yale, poets, museum educators, and since 2012 at Teachers college, Columbia University. She has a BA and MFA from Columbia University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She has received the Louis Sudler Prize, the Joan Sovern prize and had residencies at MacDowell Colony & Denniston Hill.
