On the occasion of her exhibition, Renate will be in conversation with collaborating environmental artist and educator Beatriz Chachamovits along a guided a walk in nearby Indian Wells Beach on Friday August 2nd at 6pm!
As visual artists, we, Randi Renate and Beatriz Chachamovits, are avid listeners to the ocean, incorporating a critical dialog of ocean ecology and scientific restoration efforts to our sculptural practices. We invite you to walk on Amagansett Beach, one that involves deep observation listening. Participants will surface findings and explore expanded ways of seeing that have been otherwise overlooked.
Our artistic project is a collaborative endeavor between visual artists and scientists aimed at creating large scale artwork focused on coral reef ecology and restoration. Inspired by the urgency of the crisis facing coral reefs, particularly the Florida Reef Tract, our vision is to raise awareness, educate, and inspire action through art.
