Andina Marie Osorio is a 2026 Magnum Foundation, Counter Histories: Puerto Rico Fellow

We are proud to celebrate Andina Marie Osorio as one of the eight artists selected for the inaugural 2026 cycle of Counter Histories: Puerto Rico, a new multiyear initiative from Magnum Foundation supporting photographic projects that engage with the archives, histories, and collective memory of Puerto Rico and its diaspora.

Osorio joins a cohort of artists whose practices challenge conventional narratives and create space for stories rooted in lived experience, community, place, and identity.

The 2026 cohort was selected from 216 applications through an open call and nomination process. The final selection committee included members of the Magnum Foundation team, alongside Aldeide Delgado, founder and director of Women Photographers International Archive (WOPHA); Abdiel Segarra, artist, researcher, and curator at Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico; and Susanna Temkin, Senior Curator at El Museo del Barrio.

The 2026 fellowship marks the first chapter of a three-year initiative, with forthcoming programming that will include a symposium in San Juan with the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico, as well as additional grantmaking and public programs in Puerto Rico, New York City, and beyond.

As selection committee member Abdiel Segarra writes, the selected projects turn toward the everyday lives of communities and individuals who have historically been represented from the outside rather than through their own voices and experiences. Together, these perspectives offer intimate ways of understanding Puerto Rico and its diaspora beyond the official pages of history.
