Sarah Blaustein’s “Orange Synesthesia” Joins the Permanent Collection of the University of Michigan Museum of Art

Sarah Blaustein’s Orange Synesthesia has been acquired into the permanent collection of the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA). Blaustein, who earned her BA from the University of Michigan’s Stamps School of Art and Design in 2024, creates work that explores the interconnected relationships between water, the female body, and the creative process.

Reflecting on the acquisition, Blaustein shared her excitement: “I am honored and delighted that this piece joined the UMMA collection. I want the work to connect viscerally with audiences and leave them feeling more alive. Ultimately, I hope my paintings celebrate the life-giving properties of water, the female body, and the creative process.”

The acquisition marks a meaningful milestone in Blaustein’s artistic journey, bringing her work into a collection that will continue to connect with and inspire audiences.
