"It was in the gym and nothing was particularly different except a marimba band had been hired to play. A disco ball hung from the ceiling. Our books were wrapped in brown paper bags and stashed in our lockers. Nobody took it seriously and I secretly longed for late 90’s pop songs."

Holobio is an intra-acting ecosystem that relies on all that are involved, responsive to sunlight, air, and movement. Occurring over the duration of an evening, it is the result of a collaboration between Ezra Fieremans, Nikima Jagudajev and Asad Raza. Comprised of people, piano chords, choreographed slow dances, fire and a swimming pool, Holobio is an invitation to become part of an entangled ecology.

"Regardless of the music we managed to grind on one another and Sister Mary Ann told us to ‘leave room for Jesus’. We detached and decided to dry hump the wall instead.”

Ezra Fieremans (b. 1994) is a performer working for and in collaboration with choreographers and filmmakers. He has worked with, among others, Nikima Jagudajev, Anne Imhof, Josephine Van Rheenen, Stav Yeini, Rosie Sommers, Rikkert Van Huisstede, Jakob Verbruggen.

Nikima Jagudajev (b. 1990) is a choreographer. Her work, expanding formal dance into the construction of open-ended socialities, has been presented at the Whitney Museum, Human Resources (LA) and Judson Church, in the context of 89+ at LUMA/Westbau (Zurich), Rockbund Art Museum (Shanghai), Villa Empain (Brussels), and as part of the Marrakech Biennale (Morocco). She has worked with, among others luciana achugar, Olivia Erlanger, Asad Raza, Tino Sehgal, Mårten Spångberg and Gillian Walsh. She was assistant editor to the anthology Post-Dance (2017) and has published various essays.

Asad Raza (born in Buffalo, USA; lives in New York and Leipzig) explores the idea of dialogue in his multifaceted practice as an artist, producer and writer. Recent projects include Schema for a school at “Prelude to the Shed” in New York; The Bedroom, in the 1st Lahore Biennale, 2018; and Untitled (plot for dialogue) at CONVERSO, Milan.

CRUSHCURATORIAL is an artist-run gallery founded by Karen Hesse Flatow in 2016.  Flatow collaborates with artists and curators to execute projects outside the traditional gallery structure within the context of her studio practice.
