NADA New York 2026: Charlotte Hallberg
BOOTH B9
HESSE FLATOW is pleased to participate in the 2026 NADA New York Art Fair, with a presentation of works by Charlotte Hallberg.
Hallberg’s paintings invite prolonged observation, a kind of staring that gives way to meditation or near hallucination where the chaos and noise of the exterior world become a uniform blur of sounds, shapes, and color.
Working against the emphatically binocular nature of the diptych, color functions to unify left and right sides. While there are similarities across the central divide, forms slightly shift, repeat, and move, creating instability as the eyes engage in a comparative dance. This restless gaze is parallel to lived visual experience as one wades through an endless stream of information, searching for a moment that will make sense of it all.
Forms reveal themselves as noisy “shapes” translating as symbols for light itself. Something sparkles. Something glows. An asterisk. A halo. Defined borders yield to hazy edges, rendered through brushwork that behaves in a searching way - accumulating, dissolving, filling in, and filling out. The hand attempts to reckon and describe what it sees before fully understanding what the eyes are looking at.
